Congress President Rahul Gandhi had a “euphoric reception” on his arrival at the Kingdom of Bahrain on Monday.
The Congress soon took to Twitter and said that this was the party president’s first foreign visit after his takeover.
The members of Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) received the Congress scion at the airport with open arms and smiles.
Fans and well-wishers thronged the airport, breaching the security, to greet and take selfies on their mobile phones with the newly elected Congress chief.
After coming back from Bahrain, Rahul Gandhi made this statement:
Then people also thrashed Rahul Gandhi:
Earlier, BJP on Tuesday slammed Congress president Rahul Gandhi for speaking on the political differences with the ruling party during his trip to Bahrain.
Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasadmaintained that Gandhi’s charges were not based on facts. “When we go abroad we do not discuss our political differences,” Prasad told reporters. He drew a contrast with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he spoke on the good work being done by 270 lawmakers of Indian origin in various countries.
The law minister sought to know why Gandhi had given expression to his hatred and hostility towards BJP during his foreign tour. “BJP condemns the irresponsible utterances of Rahul Gandhi abroad,” he said.
“Congress has the longest history of practising the politics of hatred,” Prasad said and enumerated several achievements of the Modi government to insist that Gandhi was wrong in his utterances about rise in hatred and divisions in society under BJP rule.
He asked Gandhi to make his stand clear on the instant triple talaq issue, Congress standing in support of Umar Khalid who, he alleged, had raised anti-national slogans in Jawaharlal Nehru University and the violence perpetrated by Peoples Front of India against RSS cadre.
