Russia and Turkey to ensure grain supplies to Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan
The Turkish President also announced a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on this subject
In case of the start of food supplies from Russian ports, Russia and Turkey may start sending them to Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with A Haber TV channel on Wednesday.
“If you show an unfavorable approach to the head of a state like Russia, he too will take a stance in order not to be oppressed. If you are attacked as a leader, you will not accept it. That is exactly what Mr. Putin did,” President Erdogan said.
“In the same situation, when I talked to him earlier about these things, he saw our approach regarding S-400, thanks to that I called him yesterday, and the grain corridor was opened as early as today. He said that for example, we could [start supplying food] to Djibouti, Somalia, and Sudan.
He said ‘let’s ship grain to those states’. We’re going to plan this work, I talked to Zelensky about it tonight. This will continue, and we will step up work accordingly,” the Turkish president said.
According to Erdogan, all parties, including Russia and Ukraine, have taken a positive approach in resolving the problems surrounding the grain deal.
