Russia to provide Asia-Pacific Region with energy resources
However, collaboration is required in either bilateral or multilateral format, Kirill Barsky noted
Russia is capable of providing the Asia-Pacific Region with energy resources and food in the current conditions, Special Envoy and Senior Official at APEC Kirill Barsky told reporters on Monday.
“It seems to me Russia, particularly in the current environment, should be of special interest for our partners in the Asia-Pacific Region, when issues of energy resources supplies and food supplies are as acute at present as never before, while we are able to provide that,” Barsky said. “However, it is impossible to do so unilaterally,” the envoy said.
“Coordination is needed here, collaboration is required in either bilateral or multilateral format. Several of them are present in our region and APEC is one of the most promising formats that may play out with new edges amid geopolitical changes occurring globally,” the diplomat added.
Russia intends to make its participation in APEC work more active, Barsky said. “This is the very important forum for us,” he noted. “This is the gateway to Asia-Pacific economic integration, where we want to participate proactively,” the envoy noted.
