Russia to showcase 200 types of weapons, equipment at Aero India 2023 show

Russia will showcase about 200 types of weapons and military equipment at the Aero India 2023 exhibition that will open on Monday.

Russia’s Rosoboronexpoert state arms seller said earlier that it would demonstrate about 200 types of the most advanced Russian-made armaments and military hardware, including the Su-57E top-notch fifth-generation multirole fighter and the Checkmate light tactical aircraft. A source close to the Rostec state corporation told TASS that Russia’s delegation planned to discuss the prospects for cooperation with India in the creation of fifth generation aircraft, in particular, the Checkmate fighter jet.
In addition, visitors to the Aero India 2023 air show will be able to see the Il-76MD-90A(E) military transport plane, the Il-78MK-90A aerial refueling tanker, the Su-35 and Su-30SME supermaneuverable fighters and the MiG-35D multirole frontline fighter, as well as the upgraded Ka-52E and Mi-28NE combat helicopters and Mi-171Sh military transport rotorcraft. Russia will also showcase the Orion-E reconnaissance/strike UAV, the Orlan-10E reconnaissance UAV and the Orlan-30, launched in 2022.
In the air defence segment, Rosoboronexport will showcase the entire range of assets that can operate both independently and as part of an echeloned air defence system. Russia’s display stand will exhibit the S-400 Triumf long-range air defence system, the S-350E Vityaz air defence missile system, the Viking, Tor-M2KM, Tor-M2E surface-to-air missile systems. The Abakan 98R6E non-strategic missile defence system designed to destroy modern and advanced tactical and operational ballistic missiles will be displayed in India for the first time. Russian-made anti-drone systems, including Repellent, RLK-MCE, RB-504P-E and RB-504A-E, will also be on display.
During the event, Russian delegation members plan to discuss future cooperation with India, particularly based on the Make in India program. According to Rosoboronexport, Russia seeks to offer India “new points of cooperation within the joint development and production of hi-tech products on the premises of Indian enterprises.”
The 14th Aero India biennial air show will run in Bangalore on February 13-17. Russia, an active participant in Indian air shows, demonstrated over 200 military products at Aero India 2021.
India remains Russia’s partner in the field of defence cooperation despite unprecedented pressure from the West,said Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugayev .
“Despite the unprecedented pressure that India is facing from US-led Western countries over Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, it remains one of Russia’s key partners in the field of military and technical cooperation. The order portfolio exceeds $10 billion,” he pointed out.
