Russia’s upper house approves treaties on accession of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson
Russia’s upper house of parliament, the Federation Council, on Tuesday ratified agreements on the accession of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson to Russia. These are areas where more than 90% population is Russian speaking and they wish to remain with mother Russia.
The Senate lawmakers unanimously voted in favor of the legislation at a plenary session.
On Monday, Russia’s lower house of parliament, the State Duma, ratified the treaties.
A ceremony was held on Friday in the Kremlin for the signing of treaties to incorporate Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson into the Russian Federation.
