See MS Dhoni’s selfless side as photo from Indian Army stint goes viral
MS Dhoni is currently on duty with the 106 TA Batallion (Para) of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir. He has taken a two-month break from cricket to serve in the army and will be staying in the valley till August 15th. The former Indian cricket team was recently spotted playing volleyball with the other soldiers in Kashmir. After a video of him enjoying a game of volleyball went viral, another picture of Dhoni is now going viral on social media.
Dhoni, who is known for his down to earth and reserved nature, can be seen polishing his army boots in the picture. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman had made himself available from India’s ongoing tour of West Indies while expressing his desire to serve in the army. The BCCI approved his decision. Dhoni had joined his regiment on July 31st.

Dhoni was one of the key members of the Indian squad in the recently-concluded ICC World Cup 2019. His performances with the bat were criticised by the fans and experts on a few occasions but the veteran wicket-keeper batsman remained a vital cog in the Indian batting line-up. He combined with Ravindra Jadeja to rescue India after a poor start in the first semi-final but failed to get the Men in Blue over the line in the 240-run chase.
Dhoni finished the World Cup with 273 runs in eight matches at an average of 45.50 and a strike rate of 87.78. The former Indian skipper was the top-scorer for the Men in Blue among the middle-order batsmen. There were intense speculations over his future after India’s exit from the showpiece event but Dhoni is yet to make an announcement in regards to his international career.
The 38-year-old holds an honorary Lieutenant Colonel rank in the Indian Army which was conferred to him after he led the Men in Blue to World Cup triumph in 2011. Dhoni is posted in the militancy-infested region of South Kashmir as part of the Victor Force and is performing normal patrolling and guard duties in the valley. In Dhoni’s absence, young Rishabh Pant has been picked as India’s wicket-keeper across formats for the ongoing tour of West Indies.
