Settlement of Indo Tibetan and Tibet China border, must for any improvement of ties between India & China
By stating that the “settlement process” of the boundary issue should not influence the normal development of ties with India, including trade relations, clearly shows that either the Chinese Communist Politburo is day dreaming or running away from reality.
“China always believes that China-India boundary question is a historic issue and should be placed and resolved appropriately in our bilateral relations,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told a media briefing.
India too has clearly stated that “business cannot go on as usual “without first resolving the Indo Tibetan border and the Tibet China border. Also this border issue is not a historical one but commenced in 1950s with forceful subjugation of Tibet by PLA of Communist China.
China has urged India to provide a fair and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies. India-China trade reached a record high of USD 136.2 billion in 2023.
Xi-Jinping knows very well that without first resolving the Indo Tibetan border there will be no progress in trade relationship. However he shoulders be aware that any multinational or any foreign Company operating on Indian soil has to follow Indian laws. This is applicable equally be they USA or Chinese Companies.
So instead of wishing for the unattainable Mao Ning should urge Xi Jinping to listen to the words of the Indian official at the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos, who said that India’s investment rules for China could change once their relationship at the border stabilises.
“The situation on the China-India border has been stable on the whole, and the settlement process should not influence the normal development of our bilateral relationship,” Mao said reiterating China’s stance on India-China ties…. This is a very wishful thinking on part of China. To stabilize things, China should as a first step withdraw totally from all Chinese Occupied areas in Ladakh and that includes Shaksgam Valley.
The India-China relationship is at a standstill since May 2020, when, in the words of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, “the Chinese have literally brought tens of thousands of soldiers in full military preparation mode right to the LAC, (Line of Actual Control) in Ladakh” in violation of all bilateral agreements.
Tensions peaked with the deadly clash between the militaries of the two countries at Galwan Valley in June 2020 and for the first time the World realized that the PLA was more of a paper tiger.
India has been demanding China pull back all its additional troops deployed in Eastern Ladakh since May 2020 while China has been maintaining the issue should not stall the bilateral ties.
Mao said the two-way trade volume between China and India has exceeded USD 100 billion in recent consecutive years and kept rising annually, which shows the resilience and potential of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. ….Well in case you are eager then do te needful te fastest or repent at leisure.
“China hopes that India could fully recognize the win-win nature of China-India economic and trade cooperation, and provide a fair, just, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies investing and operating in India,” she added…..the days of Bhai Bhai got over when you crossed the Mac Mohan line in Arunachal and entered Askai Chin in Ladakh.
