ITBP constable shoots self dead in Srinagar
A constable of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) committed suicide by shooting himself dead in Srinagar on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Constable Ramphul Meena (belt number 127020492) of ITBP 11 bn.
A local news gathering GNS, quoting a police officer, said that Constable Meena shot himself with his service rifle inside his camp at Sericulture Office in Solina area of Srinagar while he was on duty.
He said that the constable had suffered serious injuries in the incident.
“The injured constable was immediately taken to SMHS hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” the officer said.
The officer said that a case has been registered and further investigations have been taken up.
An ITBP sub-Inspector identified as Chander Mani of 4th Adhoc G Coy ended his life in a similar manner at Town Hall Kunzer in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
