Sri Lanka in talks with Russia on fertilizer, food security
Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage noted that food was “not much a problem” for the island nation
Sri Lanka is engaged in a dialogue with Moscow about food security and fertilizer shipments from Russia, said Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Moscow Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage.
When asked about talks with Moscow concerning food security and fertilizer exports from Russia to Sri Lanka, she said, “We discuss food security <…> and also fertilizer [imports] to Sri Lanka from Russia. The discussions are going on.”
Speaking at the Unique Russia art and industry exhibition, unveiled in Moscow to mark the 75th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence, the ambassador pointed out that food was “not much a problem” for the island nation.
