SU – 30MKI Fighter Jets With To Five BRAHMOS Missiles Each Will Swamp Any Carrier Battle Group
Indian Air Force has one Squadron of Sukhoi 30 MKI deployed on Tamil Nadu Coast. These IAF’s Su-30MKI are armed with one BRAHMOS missile each with a range of 400 km. The Sukhoi itself has a reach of 3000 km. Soon these BRAHMOS will be replaced with new missile having a range of 800km. So any Chinese CBG or any Chinese Flottila entering the Indian Ocean Region with even an hota if bad intentions will soon be resting on the Ocean floor.
Now the Indian Scientists have announced that within a 2 to 3 years , SU30MKIs will be capable of carrying five new BrahMos missiles. The BrahMos Aerospace is developing these as per the Chief Manager for Marketing and Exports Praveen Pathak who announced this on the sidelines of the Aero India Air Show.
“We proceed from the fact that it will be possible to integrate Su-30MKI fighters with as many as five new BrahMos-Next Generation missiles, which is being developed for light fighter jets. We are planning that a Sukhoi Su-30MKI plane will be capable of carrying two missiles under each wing and one missile under the fuselage,” Pathak said.
“Currently, Su-30MKI planes carry only one missile under the fuselage. The new missiles will considerably boost the aircraft’s capabilities,” he added.
So one can imagine what happens if say 4x SU30 MKIs go on a hunt armed with 20 BRAHMOS missiles. Forget Chinese Carrier Battle Group , Even any other CBG will have no choice but run and run fast.
