Subramanian Swamy Attacks Sonia Gandhi On National Herald
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is delaying investigations in sensitive cases involing Congress leaders.
Swamy also highlighted in particular the corruption case of former Finance Minister P Chidmbaram’s son Karti Chidambaram. He urged the Prime Minister that a case must be registered against Chidmabaram and a custodial interrogation be done.
In a letter dated October 18, Swamy appealed to the Prime Minister that the FIR has not been filed yet. He said after the FIR, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) can file a Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) case against the former Finance Minister.
He said the CBI was delaying investigation in other cases like the Saradha chit fund scam, National Herald case, illegal land acquisition by former Haryana CM Bhupinder Hooda and the Agusta Westland case.
“The PMO cannot direct the CBI, nevertheless can hold the CBI accountable under the Constitution for the expenditure CBI incurs from the consolidated fund of India,” he wrote. He alleged that the CBI is yet to probe Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former MPs Motilal Vohra and Oscar Fernandes in the National Herald case. Similarly, he said that in the Saradha Chit fund scam the main accused named Advocate Nalini Chidambaram as having received “illegal pecuniary benefits and gratification” but she has not been summoned or questioned.
He also pointed out that illegal acquisition by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda and subsequent sale to Robert Vadra has not been probed.
