The armed attack on a synagogue in Easter Jerusalem Friday evening, which resulted in at least 5 people killed, is considered a terror attack, the Israeli police press office tweeted, adding that the attacker has been eliminated.
“Preliminary report: a terror attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem. We have just received a report about a shooting in Jerusalem’s Neve Yaakov District. Several people were injured in the shooting. The terrorist has been neutralized,” the police tweeted.

The terrorist who attacked a synagogue in the Jewish neighborhood of Neve Yaakov in East Jerusalem on Friday night appears to have acted alone, according to the press service of the Israeli police.
“The initial findings of the investigation into the terrorist’s identity show he carried out this terrorist attack on his own. The available data suggests that he was a 21-year-old resident of East Jerusalem,” the statement said.
It was reported earlier that at least seven people were killed and ten were injured in a shooting in Jerusalem Friday evening, the Jerusalem Post reported. Earlier, the Magen David Adom – the Israeli emergency service – reorted five people killed in the attack.
