The Naïve And Silly Administration of USA
Apart from India, China and Turkey, nearly 13 countries have expressed interest in buying the S-400 missile system from Russia. China, India and Turkey have already signed purchase agreements for purchase of the above system. China in fact has already started receiving the shipments and soon the entire delivery will be completed. Turkey, a NATO ally, is slated to receive its S-400 next year and is expected to have the system ready for use by 2020. India too will start receiving the furst of the shipments sometime this year.
Russia’s S-400 system — a mobile, long-range, surface-to-air missile system which us certainly better than the American Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, or terminal high-altitude area defence, system and Raytheon’s Patriot system. The Russians are supplying the system at the best price possible. However the crude American Administration full of arrogance tried to threaten India with a funny law of theirs calked CAATSA or something to that effect. The law and their arrogance has backfired on them and they do not know where to hide their face. India has just refused their plea to ditch the purchase if S400 and buy their junk THAAD instead.
With the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation’s national security and modernising the military will be among the government’s top priorities. India will now ensure that most of the required equipment is MADE IN INDIA. However it will take time for full indigenization, so meanwhile certain critical weapons and equipment will be inducted through MAKE IN INDIA. However the most critical of the items will have to be bought off the shelf.
Presently India, the world’s second-largest arms importer and third largest economy in PPP terns has inked the majority of its weapons deals with its all weather friend Russia. Though India is ready to buy other items from any other supplier like USA also but it will have to be at Indian terms, as we will be paying to the seller. No one and that includes USA can dictate to India, those days are over.
In fact Trump has acted most foolishly by sanctioning India on purchase of oil from Iran and that too in middle of the General Elections. Now Modi is back and India will purchase oil from wherever it wants, No threats will act on India, actual or imaginary.
