The Vaccine Politics : Indian Has Upset The Apple Cart
There is an ongoing clash between US & Europe over vaccines. Some of the news about vaccine efficacy or safety which we read is more about the Vaccine War than any real problem.
Indian vaccine manufacturing surge has totally upset the apple cart of the International Pharma companies. Their dream of making huge profits from Indian patients lies shattered. Both the West Countries and the International Pharma lobby are highly displeased with the success of Indian vaccine Corona Shield and Covaxin.
The efficacy of these two vaccines are very high and they are most suited to the Indian climate and by extension to African climate too. Price was also the Indian vaccines cost less than 25% of the Western Vaccines. So now all are out with knives and then we have no shortage of volunteers in India too who will happily stab India in the back.
Russian vaccine Sputnik was dismissed mockingly by West almost like “What do Russians know about science”. The SPUTNIK too has proved its worth in curing the Russians. Now this vaccine already cleared by Indian medical authorities will be manufactured in India too, to increase the overall vaccine availability. Though Sputnik costs much more than the Indian Vaccines, it is still very much cheaper than Western brands.
India had earlier gifted / supplied vaccines to many Asian, African and Sothe American Countrues.Indian vaccines sent abroad is harming business interests of Pfizer and Moderna. Many “Big people” have invested a lot in pharma companies. India vaccinating it’s people for Free or just Rs.250 is eliminating potential Billion dollar profits for the Worlds BIG Vaccine Players.
However suddenly, the pandemic has increased in India itself. So though vaccine production is being increased, it will take some time before we can again export it to others. Presently Indians are being vaccinated on warfooting and from 01May all above 18 years of age will become eligible for vaccination …..a huge population in millions.
In this time of crisis in India, suddenly USA has placed restrictions on export of required raw materials to India. There is a suspicion that raw material for making Indian vaccines, coming from USA have been curbed to slow down India economically and strategically. Since India was more keen to push totally indigenous Covaxin in place of costly imported vaccines. We know who all were paid to abuse and defame Covaxin. Chattisgarh state which is almost a Tropical Vatican still doesn’t allow Covaxin to be used in the State.
On whose behest is it. Let’s all guess. Think about naxal attack and Madvi Hidma and then extrapolate. Anyone who knows Chhattisgarh will know who is supplying arms and cash to the Communists.
India manufactures 60% of vaccines made in the world. Asking it to import vaccines is like asking Saudi to buy oil.
Already Novaxin and Sputnik are going to be made in India soon to supplement Indian Covishield and Covaxin. But it is not like making paper cups. Will take a few months.
We have two credible proven choices. Pay Rs 250 in a less crowded setting or get it free with a longer queue. Vaccines are perishable items with a shelf life and can only be stocked in limited quantity in special storage facilities. So one have to wait for their turn.
Companies like Pfizer and Moderna even refuse to test its safety and efficacy on Indians and take clearance from Indian Medical Authorities. They have to follow Indian regulations to be able to sell in India. They cannot just dump their products on Indians.
The cold chain needed for Moderna and Pfizer is not available in India. We can not allow to administer dated or spoiled medication to our people because our skin is brown. The possibility that vaccines discarded in developed world may be pushed to India can not be ruled out. We have to guard against this at all cost.
Though we must be ready to fight in all the domain because when such vaccines come to our shores, it will also come with massive misinformation campaign to defame Indian vaccines. Fake news on death and adverse side effects of Indian vaccines will be plenty.
Remember how Coconut oil, groundnuts oil, mustard oil was defamed by an onslaught of fake news and fake study reports to convince Indians to buy all sorts of concocted Seed Oils by the MNC agro companies.
