TRF Commander Among 5 Terrorists Killed In South Kashmir
The South Kashmir is indeed becoming the final resting place for the terrorists. Most recently a terrorist Afaq Sikander, so called commander of the Resistance Front is among the five terrorist dogs hunted down in two separate operations by the Army and the Security Forces in Kulgam district of Kashmir Valley.
During the operations in Goplapora and Pombay areas of the South Kashmir district, there was heavy exchange of fire. A police official said that Army and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Gopalpora area following inputs about the presence of the terrorists.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon a party of the Army and the security forces, which retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed.
Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar said one of the two slain terrorists was the commander of the proscribed outfit TRF.
“Terrorist Commander of proscribed #terror outfit TRF Afaq Sikander killed in #encounter,” the IGP said in a tweet.
The official said three terrorists were killed in another gunfight in Pombay area of the district. He said the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists was being ascertained.
