Trump likely to win 277 Electoral College votes

The New York Times sees a more than 95% chance of Trump winning, while data from Polymarket bettors shows Trump with current odds of 98.9% to win the election.

Republican Donald Trump is leading the US presidential election with 277 Electoral College votes, surpassing the 270 votes needed to win the White House, according to projections from Fox News.

The Hill also projects that Trump will win the election. The DDHQ news portal, which collaborates with the newspaper, puts the number of electoral votes for Trump at 270, with his rival, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, scoring 213 such votes.

The New York Times sees a more than 95% chance of Trump winning, while data from Polymarket bettors shows Trump with current odds of 98.9% to win the election.

If Trump, 78, wins, he would become the second US president to serve two non-consecutive terms in the White House, following Grover Cleveland, who served two such terms in the 19th century.

The United States is currently counting votes in Tuesday’s elections. Voters selected the president, governors in 11 states and two US territories, one-third of the Senate, and all members of the House of Representatives.
