Trump should not bang his nut against India’s import duties, Will hurt him only

Trump in an address to a joint session of Congress, emphasised the need for “fair trade,” asserting that India and other nations have long imposed excessive tariffs on American goods, which he believes have disadvantaged U.S. businesses.

Trump Bhai forgets that it is his country and Western Europe that have been hurting India since long through their unfair trade practices.

In fact Britain has been looting India since long. Trump has announced that his reciprocal tariffs will begin on April 2, aiming to level the playing field for American exporters by mirroring the tariffs imposed by other countries on U.S. goods.

Well that’s no problem for India because we believe in equality. So when U.S. President Donald Trump targeted India’s high import duties, particularly highlighting the country’s 100% tariff on imported American automobiles, he is welcome to impose 100% tariff on import of Indian cars to USA !!

Trump’s speech underscored his “America First” approach, emphasizing that the U.S. will no longer tolerate what he perceives as unfair trade practices. He stated, “Whatever they tax us, we will tax them,” signalling a firm stance on trade reciprocity.

The move could significantly impact India’s trade with the U.S., potentially disrupting exports in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, and IT services.

Well India too believes in INDIA FIRST, so where is the problem. They want to export what they have ie goods to India. Then they will have to accept our things that us SERVICES (read manpower )….this will be equality which India will insist.

India will considering reductions in tariffs only if USA does on various items including automobiles and chemicals. However, India’s will not be lowering tariffs on agricultural products, Trump can keep trumpeting. India will protect its own farmers.

The looming reciprocal tariffs pose no significant challenges for India as we have a vast internal market with rising consumption.

Then we can increase our trade with Russia and Middle East. However trade relations between India and the U.S. will have a broader implications for global trade dynamics.
