Tricolour Flutters
Amidst
Celebrations
Air sings
Water streams
Birds glide
Plants bloom
Breeze plays
Spirits soar
Recall
The Freedom struggle
Millions sacrificed
To dismantle
The yoke of slavery
And breath fresh
As ‘Free’Indians
On 15 Aug,1947
Tryst with destiny
India became ‘Free’
Broke the cage
Without rage
In peace and harmony
Tears overcame joy
Happiness flowed like
An avalanche
Martyrs blessed the day
Nation was intoxicated
And gay
Tricolour piercing its bosom
Parched crust smiled
Mothers sighed
Freed from the guilt
Child in the womb
Will be the child born free
Leaders pledged
To build the Nation
With selfless devotion
Peity and loyalty
On 15 Aug 2020
Patriots
Some turned traitors
Principles compromised
Human values
Thrown overboard
Minds depraved
Of morality
Ethics transmute
Selfishness – A virtue
Selflessness – A vice
Greed, lust, power
Contaminate the marrow
Of the nation
The clarion call
Wake up India
Restore its glory
Vow to fight poverty,
Ensure equality, security
Prosperity
And Godspeed
Let every child
Hearld from the womb
With chest out
Say with gusto
I am a “Proud Indian” of
Our Glorious Nation
