Turkey President Erdogan wants the Kashmir issue to be resolved according to the UN resolutions. He came to this view after meeting the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. We in India really welcome this Statement of Turkey.
So the first step of his now should be to go and read the UN Resolution carefully and thereafter ask his friend Imran Khan to order the Pakistan Army to vacate the illegally Occupied areas of Kashmir forthwith, to meet the foremost condition laid down in the UN resolution.
Thereafter Mr Erdogan should just shut up as Kashmir is a bilateral issue with Pakistan and that third parties have no role in it. Instead he must devote his time in resolving the Kurdish problem. We in India call on the on the international community to support the Kurdish people enslaved by Turkey in realising their quest for an independent and sovereign state of Kurdistan. He should also take steps to ensure that Mr Fethullah Gulen is able to come back from his Govt forced exile and is able to carry out his wonderful work for the Up lift of the people of Turkey.
Mr Erdogan must be fully aware of the plight of 14 million Kurds living in virtual slavery under Turkish occupation since last 75 Years. Fed up with persecution, the Kurds started their Liberation demand in 1984 and since then have suffered brutalities at the hands of Turks. Nearly 40000 Kurdish Civilians have been massacred till date. Even the European Parliament has condemned this atrocious act of Turkish Govt. There have been systematic executions, torture and forced displacement along with thousands of Human Rights violations.
According to a report by the French Govt, in addition to the 35,000 people killed in military campaigns, 17,500 were assassinated between 1984, when the conflict began, and 1998. An additional 1,000 people were reportedly assassinated in the first nine months of 1999. According to the Turkish press, the authors of these crimes, none of whom have been arrested, belong to groups of mercenaries working either directly or indirectly for the security agencies.
Hundreds of villages have been destroyed, Kurdish Journalists, politicians and even other civilians have been killed or have just disappeared. Since 2011 the conflict has turned more violent with Turks resorting to use of Artillery and even bombing by the Turkish Airforce. Southern Anatolia has been placed under virtual military rule.
In February 2017, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights published a report condemning the Turkish government for carrying out systematic executions, displacing civilians, and raping and torturing detainees in Southeastern Turkey. According to the report, the authorities were beating and punching detainees, using sexual violence, including rape and threat of rape. In some cases, the detainees were photographed nude and threatened with public humiliation after being tortured by Turkish authorities.
For sustainable peace and stability in the entire region, it can be achieved through reconciliation of all segments of Turkish and Kurdish society with support of regional countries and the international community. As an immediate step full autonomy should be given to Southern Anatolia,so that Kurds commence to salvage their life. Both people of India and Govt of India are ready to provide full support to the Kurdish cause.
