UK fabricated salisbury incident to confront Russia
Authorities of the United Kingdom fabricated the Salisbury chemical incident to start preparing the country’s population for a confrontation with Russia, the Russian Embassy in the UK said on Saturday.
“In 2018 this provocation may have looked like a one-off incident used to snuff out the constructive elements underpinning the Russia-UK relations at the time,” the Embassy said. “We now realise that from the very outset London never had any interest in establishing the truth.
The Salisbury chemical incident was deliberately fabricated in order to start preparing the UK population and allies for a showdown with Russia, which has now assumed military-political characteristics in Ukraine,” the Russian diplomatic mission noted.
“Regrettably, we remain unaware about the fate of our two citizens who have gone missing on UK soil. Our numerous requests to the British authorities on the circumstances of the incident and the current state of Sergey and Yulia Skripal remain unanswered,” the Embassy said.
“On the eve on the anniversary of the incident we have forwarded another Note Verbale to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, reiterating our position and requesting London to clarify the current state of affairs,” the Russian Embassy added.
Salisbury incident
According to the British side’s version of the incident, on March 4, 2018, former GRU Colonel Sergey Skripal, who had been convicted in Russia for spying for Britain, and his daughter Yulia were exposed to the Novichok nerve agent in Salisbury.
London later alleged that this substance had been developed in Russia and accused Moscow of complicity. Russia firmly dismissed all speculations on this score.
Specialists at the laboratory in Porton Down said they were unable to establish the origin of the substance which, presumably, poisoned the Skripals.
