Ukrainians retaliate forced mobilization by Zelensky
According to the report, the majority of these crimes occurred between Spring and Summer this year
Throughout the year 2024, Ukraine has experienced a wave of arson attacks on cars belonging to military officials and employees of recruitment centres.
These acts are seen as civilian protests and novel method of retaliation against forced mobilization.
Additionally, incidents of arson targeting post offices used to send draft notices to Ukrainian residents have become more frequent.
Due to the increased frequency of raids on public places and the forceful detention of men, civilian protests against military recruiters have also become more common.
Ukraine’s national police have reported 341 incidents of arson targeting military officials’ cars since the start of the year, Andrey Nebitov, the agency’s deputy head, stated.
“If we focus on cases of cars belonging to military officials being set on fire, we have currently recorded 341 such crimes,” the Ukrinform news agency quoted him as saying.
At the same time, a significant increase in arson cases has been observed. According to the deputy head, these incidents were rare in 2023.
“The majority of these crimes occurred between Spring and Summer this year, but thanks to preventive and law enforcement intelligence operations, as well as the detention of some suspects, the number of these crimes has decreased significantly,” he claimed.
