UN Security Council to hold meeting on Middle East on Friday
The meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question will be held at 03:00 p.m. local time
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on Friday, November 10, the office of the representative of the UN Secretary General told reporters.
The meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question will be held at 03:00 p.m. local time (11:00 p.m. Moscow time).
Last month, the UN Security Council failed to adopt any of the four draft resolutions on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Currently, the “ten” non-permanent members of the Security Council are developing their own document, which is expected to include provisions from previous draft resolutions.
The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. Hamas regards the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and has started delivering strikes on that area and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank. The Israeli army is expanding the scale of its ground military operation in the Gaza Strip.
