Vasant Mela – a celebration of colors was held on March 11 in Indian Embassy in China.
The Embassy of India in China organized “Vasant Mela – a celebration of colors” at the old chancery premises on March 11, attended by over 3,000 people with stalls selling Indian handicrafts, diverse cuisines and activities for children and adults as well as nonstop day long cultural extravaganza.
Ambassador Pradeep Rawat spoke at the inaugural event and outlined how the festival is an expression of the celebration of friendship and love. It also featured a grand amalgamation of four styles of classical dance, such as Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi and Kathak.
The performances ranging across five segments had a heady mix of classical and fusion music, Western and Indian dances, yoga demonstrations, interactive quizzes and audience challenge-segments finally ending with a crescendo of a flash mob.
