Want to upload Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License on DigiLocker, Know Step by step process

People need not carry a physical copy of their driving license, registration certificate, Aadhaar, educational and other certificates as the soft copy of these documents uploaded on DigiLocker holds the same value.

Under the IT Act, 2000 and the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the digital versions of the document saved on DigiLocker can be used by vehicle owners as valid proof.

It is a secure cloud-based platform for storage, sharing and verification of documents and certificates. One can access the important documents anytime anywhere from their mobile devices. In fact, now Indian Railways even accepts digital Aadhaar and driving license from digilocker as a valid ID proof. According to digilocker.gov.in, more than 30 crore educational certificates are available on it.

If you wish to signup for the digilocker then only your mobile number is required. For this, your mobile number will be authenticated by sending an OTP (one-time password) followed by selecting a username and password. This will create your DigiLocker account. One the account is created, you can voluntarily provide your Aadhaar number (issued by UIDAI) to avail additional services.

How to upload documents-

1. Go to digilocker official website- digilocker.gov.in and register yourself.

2. In the next step, sign up with your mobile number and other required details or the verification process.

3. Now sync your Aadhaar number with it
4. Click on the upload icon and select the document you want to upload from your system.

5. Click ‘select doc type’ and choose the document and click ‘save’ option. It is to be noted that only jpeg, png and pdf format files can be uploaded.

6. Here you even have an option to edit the name of an uploaded file. For this click on the edit icon which is next to the filename.

These documents can be uploaded on Digilocker-

1. The customers can access their digital Aadhaar card number issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). It is to be noted that Digital Aadhaar is same as the eAadhaar.

2. It has partnered with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways so that citizens can access digital driving license (DL) and vehicle registration certificates (RC).

3. Users can also store their permanent account number (PAN) card on this cloud-based platform. Moreover, people can access the real-time PAN Verification record from the Income-Tax (I-T) department.

4. In order to provide easy access to student’s mark sheet, digiLocker has partnered with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Both registered and non-registered CBSE students can access this.
