WhatsApp to soon add multiple devices support, here’s how it works

Users will soon be able to use one WhatsApp account on multiple devices at the same time.

Dark mode was one of WhatsApp’s most awaited features, and after months of tests it finally rolled out earlier this year. Now the next highly requested feature for WhatsApp is multiple devices support. WhatsApp is working on this and we recently got to know how this feature will work when it rolls out.

WhatsApp currently supports only one device at a time. So you cannot use the same WhatsApp account on more than one device at a time. WhatsApp Web is there but for this too your phone needs to be close to the laptop or PC. With support for multiple devices users will be able to access their WhatsApp on different devices at the same time.

How it will work

Based on the latest WhatsApp beta update spotted by WABetaInfo, this feature will be called ‘Linked Devices’. At present, this feature is being tested with support for up to four devices. Linked Devices will be available in the settings menu of WhatsApp just below the new broadcast. The interface is similar to the WhatsApp Web section on the app.

Under this section users will be able to see the list of devices their WhatsApp account is active on. Users can also link a new device to their WhatsApp account from this section itself. Another option is to log out from linked devices which can also be done under Linked Devices. It shows more details like the last active time.

We’ve been hearing about multi-device support on WhatsApp for months. But the latest update shows that the feature is almost ready. WhatsApp took very long in rolling out dark mode so there’s really no telling when this feature will be available.
